I've handled a lot of wooden puzzle boxes and this one is genuinely different — the joinery on the sliding shutter panels is so tight there's no wiggle, yet it opens smoothly once you find the trick. Took me almost twenty minutes to crack it, which is way longer than I expected from a box this size.
The seven different woods make this thing feel way more special than a typical puzzle box, and the grain on the top panel is gorgeous. My dad and I passed it back and forth for an hour trying to figure out the shutter mechanism. Worth every penny.
I bought this as a gift for my dad who loves woodworking, and he spent a solid twenty minutes just figuring out the first shutter before he got it open. The seven different woods are gorgeous in person, each one has a distinct feel and smell.
