Exquisite craftsmanship and clever calculations combine to create two exceedingly difficult puzzle boxes perfect for fans of advanced mathematics. The Ternary Box requires eighteen moves to open and the Quinary Box requires fifty! Please don't ask us to explain the underlying mathematical principles.

Designed by the brilliant craftsman Hiroshi Iwahara, both Visible Drawer Puzzle Boxes are made from Walnut, Wenge, Padouk, Maple and acrylic "see-through" panels (hence the name "Visible"). Please note: the hidden storage compartment is considerably smaller than the exterior of the box. Made by hand in the Hakone mountains of Japan.

James ★★★★★

The grain on this one is gorgeous, and the way the ternary mechanism clicks through each of its eighteen moves feels incredibly precise. I’ve had it out on my coffee table for a week and guests can’t stop picking it up, even the ones who hate math.

Julian ★★★★★

Eighteen moves sounds intimidating, but the mechanical "click" of each step is so satisfying that I found myself solving it twice in a row. The ternary mechanism is brilliantly engineered, and the wood finish is flawless. My math-obsessed friend was stumped for a full hour.

Daniel ★★★★★

The wood grain feels almost silky against my fingertips, and the way each panel clicks into place is deeply satisfying. I've spent two evenings just working through the eighteen steps, and the moment it finally opened was pure triumph.
