Three metal balls are trapped within a labyrinth of wood. It will take great patience and dexterity to successfully traverse the pathways hidden between the concentric circles. Luckily, Sphaera looks beautiful even when it hasn’t been solved. Designed by Sarah Ahart and Bryanna Dering for Naef in Germany. Please note that the color and grain of the wood may vary and look slightly different than in photos.

The wood grain feels smooth under my thumb, and tilting the board just right to roll a ball between the concentric circles is way more addictive than I expected. Getting all three metal balls through the hidden pathways took me a few evenings, and honestly the patience it demands is the fun part.

I didn't expect three separate balls to make it this tricky—each one takes a totally different route through the wood. It's the kind of puzzle you pick up for five minutes and suddenly an hour's gone, and the metal balls rolling between the layers feels great in the hand.

The concentric circles make this way harder than it looks, and getting even one ball to the center took me a solid twenty minutes. The wood has a nice weight to it and the channels are smooth enough that the balls roll without catching. Perfect thing to fiddle with during long conference calls.
