The way that salmon is carved mid-leap out of the rapids is almost photographic—I kept stopping just to study the piece shapes. Chapman's single-piece technique really shows in the bear's fur, which feels impossibly organic as you fit it together.
Took me three rainy afternoons to finish, but that crouching bear mid-salmon-snatch scene is so alive it barely feels like a puzzle. The way the river water pieces interlock is incredibly satisfying.
The way Chapman carves each piece so it locks into the next is pure artistry—I found myself just staring at the bear's paw and the salmon mid-leap before even starting.
