DIY Japanese Kumiki Trivet

I've never owned anything with purpleheart before and the color is stunning next to the maple. The pieces snap together with a satisfying click, and I spent a whole evening just trying different star and hexagon shapes instead of putting it on the table.

The purpleheart and maple contrast is striking once assembled, way prettier than the plain cork trivet it replaced. Took me a minute to figure out the snapping order, but now I keep rebuilding it into hexagons just for fun.

I bought this mainly to keep my hands busy during conference calls, and now it lives on my coffee table as a puzzle. The pieces snap together tighter than I expected, and there's something oddly satisfying about the little click when a hexagon finally locks in.
